ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND “INDIVIDUAL” MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

All persons of not less than 18 years of age shall be eligible for membership provided the person seeking membership can show evidence of recognized accomplishment and professional standing.

The membership of the association shall be of FOUR categories as below, although the General Council shall address the qualification for such categories from time to time:

  1. Full Membership
  2. Associate Membership
  3. Affiliate Membership
  4. Student Membership

 DEFINITION OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES:

1. FULL MEMBERSHIP

(a) A full member should have 7 (Seven) years post graduation experience in a reputable organization or Agency and 5 (five) years of which must be in full research function.

Cognate experience and reputable / top organizations and agencies are as defined below.

(b) A Full Member should normally, be well grounded in research techniques and applications. On the Agency side, such should be a full research executive (not Trainee/Asst.) for at least 5 years. On the Client side, the person should normally be a full manager in a reputable organization.

(c) Educational background should be minimum of a full Degree, HND or equivalent.

2. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Same qualification as for Full Membership except for inadequate cognate experience.

(a) Those who have sufficient experience that will qualify them as a full Member except that they are not in mainstream research; executive or manager functions may be admitted as Associates.

(b) Those who could qualify as Full Members but for number of years of experience.

Individual cases could be treated on their merit as regards Educational backgrounds and experience.

3. AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP

For persons in a complimentary research function.  The person should have worked or be working for at least 3 years in an Agency or Department that has a Full Member or someone qualified to be a Full Member of the Association.

4. STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

(a) Academic qualification should not be below School Certificate with at least 5 (five) O’ level credits in one sitting; including English Language or 6 (six) O’ Level Credits in two sittings; including English Language..

(b) Must show interest in marketing research as a career either in the executive or manager cadre or in any of the supporting skills.

(c) Must be actively studying to pass the exams of the Association if and when they are set up.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Individuals shall only be admitted to Membership by the applicant’s professional qualifications, work experience as well as educational levels and the ability to demonstrate sound research knowledge and its full applications, as mentioned above.
